John Younglove Cummin
John "Jack" Younglove Cummin, 80, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 after a brief illness at Naples Community Hospital with his family by his side.
Jack was born June 20, 1935 in Newark, NJ. He was the son of Willard and Rosalie Cummin.
In 1956 Jack graduated from Miami University with a BS in Business. There he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and Naval ROTC. He served in the US Navy as a LTJG on the USS Intrepid.
Jack was employed by State Fidelity and MidAmerica Federal Savings & Loan institutions for over 30 years and was a president of the Savings & Loan Assn. in Dayton, OH. He was also an auditor for City of Columbus tax division for 10 years.
Jack is survived by wife Janis, of Naples, FL and Worthington, OH; daughter Cathleen Shaw, of Worthington, OH; son, Scot (Kristin) of Sarasota, FL; son Mark (Raelynn), of Kettering, OH; son David (Crystal) of Logan, OH; daughter Deborah Filkins (Jack), of The Villages, FL; daughter Teresa Godwin, of Columbus, OH; 13 grandchildren: Laura, Katherine, Michael, Sofia, Skylar, Erin, Dana, John, Tyler, Alexander, Nathaniel, Samuel, Luke and 2 great-granddaughters: Evelyn and Rosalie; cousins Marge Meinhardt (Alfred) of Wayne, NJ and Richard Merrill of Wilmington, DE.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Carol Irene Curts, and grandson David Vantrease.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11 am in the Potter Chapel at Worthington U. Methodist Church, Pastor Cyndy Garn officiating. He will be buried in Hammondsport, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
