James Milton Tindall III beloved son, husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2018.
Jim was born on June 22, 1942 to James Milton Tindall, II and Dorothy (Stewart) Tindall. He was joined in his family by his siblings Anne (Charles Markley), Thomas (Sally) and Barbara (Christopher Welch). Jim is a graduate of Dickenson College and Harvard Business School.
Jim’s career began in California as a stockbroker. He became President of Coast Navigation School and grew the school into a major education and maritime business in Santa Barbara, California and Annapolis, Maryland. After more than 30 years with Coast, Jim moved to Seattle, Washington where he was Marketing and Sales Manager for maritime and aviation products. Following 5 years in Seattle, Jim moved to New Jersey and joined Maritel in New York. Medical issues brought him to Florida and retirement.
Jim’s knowledge and love for maritime subjects found him as a guest lecturer at the US Naval Academy Safety at Sea seminars and for other maritime organizations and writing for maritime magazines as a member of the International Writers Association. Jim can be described as a history buff, an avid reader and teacher, he especially enjoyed sharing God’s Word with the men’s Bible class. He led the re-opening of a historic chapel at The Woods in West Virginia and served as the Resort Chapel Pastor.
Jim served as a Deacon and teacher at First Baptist of Estero and was a member of the Gideon’s. He was a member of the American Philatelic Society. He enjoyed volunteering at Interfaith Charities.
Jim and Carol married on New Year’s Day in 1981. Jim has two children, Elizabeth Jette (Doug) and David Tindall (Marie) and two stepsons, David Allen Causey, Sr and Darren Todd Causey (Robin); 9 grandchildren; Heather, Ashley, David, Elle, Will, Ryan, Sarah, Hannah and Bekah and one great-granddaughter, Aubrey.
