Born in 1940 John passed away on March 2, 2018 after a very courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Even in his advanced stages he loved to talk and make friends. Everyone at his Villa at Terracina Grand family loved and cared about him as evidenced by the many tears and hugs exhibited at the end of his life.
Formally from Massachusetts John loved the paradise that he found on Marco Island, Florida. He loved to dive head first into the Gulf but only when the temperature hit 80.
John felt that his greatest accomplishment was creating his own business BATH GENIE. After painting cars at NASCAR, he thought that the paint would stick on a bathtub as well. He was right. He thought going to work was fun. He continued to go into the office even after he sold the business.
John was a loving father and a VERY loving grandfather. He felt like he got it right when the grandkids came along. He enjoyed spending time with his boys. John is survived by his wife of 30 years Marianne. Her relatives thought it was a hoot that she ended up with an Irishman. He was very proud of his heritage.
Donations in John’s memory would be greatly appreciated by The Alzheimer’s Support Network, 660 Tamiami Trail North, Suite 21, Naples, FL 34102. The Network made John feel like an important member of their team. They have been an invaluable resource to his family. We could not have done it without them.
A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday March 6th at 11:00 in San Marco Catholic Church, 851 San Marco Road Marco Island Florida, 34145.
