Leonard Michael DeAugustino, 62, passed away peacefully at his home in Naples, Florida on Friday April 27, 2018. Lenny, as he’s known by friends and family, was born on January 29, 1956 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Stephen Vincent DeAugustino and the late Joan Murphy.
In high school Lenny won many awards and received accolades as an outstanding wrestler. Those abilities granted him a scholarship to Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio where he met Cyndy Lou Gray and later moved to Naples, Florida. It is there where he started a family and began his reputable career with the United States Postal Service. Lenny was a well-respected and loved mail carrier for over thirty-four years. His personality shined and was well received by both his coworkers and the many people he served over the years. He had a strong work ethic and took pride in his work as well as himself. This enabled him to excel in his career and he instilled those same principles in his children. While raising his sons he taught them to play different sports and was very involved in training with them and their many tournaments. He took great pride in their achievements and shared joy in their victories. He was an avid fisherman who loved to take his friends and family out on the water with him to create lasting memories. He really was at home in Southwest Florida but had strong ties to his family in the Pittsburgh area.
Leonard is survived by Father, Stephen and siblings; Stephen, Beth, George, Amy, Maria, and Philip, ex-wife, Cyndy Lou, two sons, Steven Gray and John Nicholas DeAugustino, daughter-in-law Kara Allyson DeAugustino and granddaughters Lily Ray and Taylor Gray DeAugustino.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday May 8th at 7pm at the Unity of Naples Church with reception to follow. Lenny’s ashes will be spread in the Gulf of Mexico by his family the following morning.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to your favorite local charity or the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
