He was born in Havana, Cuba on July 13, 1946. At the age of 14 he immigrated to the US with his family in November of 1960. Most of his life was spent in Florida and Colorado. He graduated from East High School in Denver. He attended The University of Northern Colorado where he studied Art and Music. At this time he became a born again Christian.
After college he worked at various professions which included mining, retail, and social service. He eventually found his true calling in the medical field. He worked for several years in Naples, Florida and Miami, Florida where he practiced as a paramedic and a nurse. He retired from nursing in 2008.
He was happily married to his wife Joan for more than 20 years. They enjoyed world travel to places including Cuba, Brazil, Egypt, Lebanon, and Syria. Armando was able to make quick and lasting friends. He would often correspond with people that he met during their travels. He shared kindness and love everywhere he went. He often entertained people while playing his bongos and congas.
His memory is etched in the hearts of the people who loved him. He is survived by his siblings Roberto and Esther, his wife Joan, and daughter Michelle. Armando had 4 daughters, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grand children. His Cuban heritage continues to multiply and thrive.
He shared a sense of humor with his brother (who is the author of this obituary). On an anecdotal note; in 2014 Armando was hospitalized with multiple medical complications. Due to the conditions of Diabetes, Compartmentalism Syndrome, and the start of Kidney Failure his doctor advised him to increase hydration and make healthier eating choices. He took this advice to heart. On a daily basis, made sure he consumed 2 liters of iced “Café Con Leche” judiciously sweetened with 23 packages of Spenda and followed toast made from Ezekiel bread with almond butter. One of his “proprietary health food recipes “ Was prepared by heating olive oil until it smoked and then boiling any frozen vegetable until devoid of any nutrients.
