Condolences

Condolence From: Don Armstrong
Condolence: John was a great friend and neighbor at Falling Waters Beach Resort in Naples FL. I admired his model boat builds and was always impressed with the clever ways he worked out problems to make the boats better and his creative devices for transporting and storage.

To me, he was a great example of a true gentleman. Thoughtful of others, kind, and humble.
I regret our friendship was so short.

Condolence From: Carol and Bill Schleig
Condolence: John and I graduated from high school together. We later reconnected at reunion lunches when he and Lynn were in the area. Through talking we realized we were in Fl. at the same time. We decided to meet for lunch and we started a yearly tradition. We will really, really miss John, but will continue our tradition with Lynn. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

Condolence From: Steve Souder
Condolence: Since there will be no service, I will use this venue as my eulogy speech:

I first met John when he had a Mercedes restoration shop in Doylestown, PA. I got to meet him there because my girlfriend, who was from Long Island - who I met at Penn State - was first cousin to Lynnie.
Since I grew up in Bucks County, I thought, "Wow, what a small world!"
Pam and I went on to get married in 1981, and Jennifer was the Flower Girl and Morgan was the "Ring Master."
John and Lynnie moved to Downingtown and remained there for a number of years. During that time, John and Lynnie raised Jennifer and Morgan; then the Clarks and the Souders found another common denominator - Rock Hall and the Chesapeake Bay. The Clarks kept a vessel at the Sailing Emporioum and the Souders kept theirs at Haven Harbor.
Once again in my mind I thought, "Wow, what a small world!"
As time went on I developed a deep regard and a keen admiration for John. Every time I met him, there would be something new in his life - and each time I could see he already had his PHD on the subject!
Going to live aboard a boat? "Steve, do you know about METAR weather data?" "Steve, going to compile a family history?" "Steve, going to print it out?" "Going to build a model railway?" "Going to fix arcade games?" -no matter what John set his mind to, he would master the knowledge in no time flat.
All of these things is what I admired most about John. All of this plus his acerbic humor about life: His under-the-breath mutterings over his dislikes were the best... I'll name no names!!!

John lived life on his own terms - as should we all.
I will miss John dearly and am saddened I never got to say my farewells to him.

In love of life-
Steve
Farewell John. We all adored you, and you will be missed.
