Why plan services in advance?
We plan most everything in life in advance of need; we plan vacations, trips, buying a home, a child’s education and weddings, as examples. We plan most of these events as a couple with the support and guidance from each other, so why would we leave our spouse or partner to face these decisions alone on the worst day of their life?
Is planning our final wishes really an act of protection?
We believe that planning ahead is an act of protection for those we love from making these decisions alone. We believe that planning ahead protects our love one from emotional overspending at the time death. We never have heard children say "we wish Dad and Mom left this for us to do."
Why pay for my arrangements in advance?
When you select and pay for your arrangements in advance, your selection of our services and merchandise is price guaranteed. At time of need, additional monies will not be requested for these items unless changes or additional items are requested by the family. See also Q&A on cash advance items.
What are cash advance items and are they price protected by my plan?
Most payments to a third party in making arrangements are considered cash advance items, like death certificates fees and payments for placing obituaries. These are examples of items that are not priced protected. All cash advance items will be clearly identified in your plan. Note that cemetery third party charges are generally price protected by the cemetery when you pay them directly.
Is my money safe when I pay in advance?
Your payment for making your arrangements in advance is placed in a trust account of a regional banking institution administered under the laws and regulated by Department of Financial Services. We guarantee to deliver our contracted services and the merchandise you selected in your plan.
What happens if there is a loss in the principal of your payments held in trust?
We are responsible to provide the contracted services and merchandise using whatever balance exists safeguarded in trust. Any losses which negatively affect trust principal have absolutely no effect on our obligations to provide you the services and merchandise contracted.
Why would I ever cancel the prearrangement plans I have made?
Depending on your plan, you may want to change your pre-need provider or make some changes that reflect your wishes today, given the options that are available. Services and merchandise may also be available for less today, and you may want to be refunded the savings.
What happens if I want to cancel and be refunded what I paid?
Upon written request by the purchaser before the time of need, Legacy Options will refund the purchaser all moneys paid for prearrangements within 30 days of canceling a contract. Very few other funeral homes provide this. We provide this right of cancelation anytime because of the confidence we have in our approach to serving your needs.
