Obituary

Entered into eternal life on February 26, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Bessie Tsoucaris. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Frank Butler, her sister Tina (Nick) Sellas of Clearwater, FL, her brother Jim (Ann) Tsoucaris of Clearwater Beach, FL, and her sister Barbara (Bill) Downey of Westport, CT, along with many nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

Peggy was born on July 31, 1946 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. She received a BA from California University in Pennsylvania and an MS from Eastern Michigan University. She spent her career as a Guidance Counselor in the Plymouth-Canton, Michigan School system.

Peggy was a longtime member of Philoptochos (the Greek Orthodox Church’s Women’s organization). She served in many ways; helping those in need both in the Church and throughout the communities where she lived. She was a member of the Juliets, the Seastars and an active member of her college sorority, Delta Zeta.

Peggy enjoyed movies, walking the beach, golf, and rarely passed up a chance to play bridge. She was intelligent, loving, caring, energetic and known for her inquisitive nature. She had a special fondness for her Church and was a person of deep faith. Peggy had many cherished friendships and was dearly loved for her beautiful smile and great sense of humor. May her memory be eternal.

Visitation will be held at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church on Friday, March 1st from 5:00pm - 7:00pm with a 6pm Trisagion Service. Funeral Service is Saturday, March 2nd at 11:00am following the Saturday of Souls Divine Liturgy.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, 7100 Airport Road North, Naples, FL 34109 or The Spencer Sellas Memorial Scholarship Fund, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 409 S. Old Coachman Road, Clearwater, Florida 33765.

Dear family, Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss of Peggy. Although I did not know her personally, I did remember Barbara who was two years ahead of me in school. My father told me on more than one occasion that Masontown endured at great loss when the family moved away. He had such great respect for your family.
